A Stormy Afternoon/Evening on Jekyll

WE slept in until 7:45 this morning.  John IS getting the hang of this life of retirement!  We went for a bike ride on one of the many bike paths on the island.  The Spanish moss makes for a great picture, doesn't it!?!

It is supposed to start raining after 11:00 am, so after breakfast we decided to take the 45 minute drive to the Naval Submarine Base in King's Bay, GA to check out the storage area where we will be parking Harvey for November and December.  We also wanted to take a look at the campground.  The storage area looked adequate and the CG was beautiful with full hook-ups, large cement pads, grass and bushes and some of the sites were pull-thrus.  It all looked fairly new.  There was a large lake with signs warning on-lookers of alligators!  We'll have to be careful with Kylie if we ever go there!  We stopped at the NEX, Dominos, and filled the Jeep with gas.  Since we were so close to St Mary Island we decided to head her way and when passing the other entrance to the Base saw a replica of a submarine coming out of the water.

On the way to St Marys the emergency weather system came on the radio with warnings of severe weather in many areas including Jekyll, so we decided to turn around and go back to the CG.  There's a Dairy Queen (uh-oh) just as you get to the inland of Jekyll, so we stopped for mini Blizzards.  It was 3:00 pm now and pouring when we came out and it continued to pour the whole way back to the CG.  There have been acorns hitting the top of Harvey since we have been here and it was hard to tell whether it was big drops or acorns coming down.  By 6pm the rain had stopped, so John grilled hamburgers for supper.  We finished our game of Hand and Foot that we had started before supper...I won!  Then I watched The Voice in the living room while John watched TV in the bedroom.  I also watched the new show "Marry Me." It was very funny!!  We turned in for the night, but at about 3:30 woke to the sound of heavy raindrops and branches hitting the roof of Harvey.  It was pouring and blowing.  It kept me awake for a while but I somehow managed to fall back to sleep.
