Next Stop Jekyll Island, GA

We both woke up this morning at 5:30am to the sound of banging on the back of Harvey.  As John went out to investigate I could hear the wind blowing in strong gusts.  He had hung the drainage hoses on the back ladder last evening to dry and the wind was playing havoc with them.  It was pretty scary as the RV was swaying back and forth.  Then it started to pour!  But miraculously by 6:30 the wind and the rain stopped!  We had planned on leaving the CG by 8:30, but because we had "suddenly" gotten up early, we ate some leftover "hunky" eggs, finished all the packing up details and were ready to go by 7:15!  I would have loved to sleep until that time since I only got to bed at 1:30 and then woke up several times due to nightmares.  I must have been worried about the weather predictions.
This is looking into the CG from the main road.
See Harvey and the Jeep on the right.

That's the office on the right and the main road out front.
See how the ocean is just over the dunes across the road!

It's hard to see, but there is a river flowing behind
Harvey from all the rain.  The sun was just starting to rise.

This is a view from the CG this morning across the dunes.
What a beautiful sky!!  I should have taken the  time
to run over to the dunes and get the actual sunrise.
We were off the base, gassed up Harvey and on the road by 8:00.  It rained off and on until we made our first stop off I-95 at exit 164 near Florence, SC at about 11:45.  We were planning on stopping at the Pilot to use our Good Sam card to get a 3 cent discount (gas was $1.87), but it was only RV friendly if you had a diesel... the pumps were out back.  The gas pumps up front just didn't have enough room!  So we drove down a block or so to a TA/BP.  It was a bit more per gallon, but certainly much easier in and out!  And, guess what... the rain stopped!  There was a Popeyes chicken there, so we ate lunch.  We were on the road again at 12:30 and the rain began again.  We certainly have been fortunate with rain stoppages!  Alexandra called and shared with us that she had gotten another 84 on one of her college exams, got her promotion at Charming Charles at Park City, and started a new babysitting job.  We are so proud of her!  She is so excited about life right now and we are so happy to have her share it with us!!  We crossed into Georgia at about 3:00...we were on the home stretch.  At 4:30 we turned into Jekyll Island.  It was wonderful to be back and know that we were staying for a whole month!  We were set up by 5:45 and then had supper.  Bonnie called and we chatted a while.  She and Ken are still up in Vermont with Chuck and Melissa.  Then we went over to the beach at 7:15.  It is certainly different from the beach at Camp Lejeune...no shells, but we did find a dead sand dollar (and many that were alive).  But, of course, we only picked up the dead one.  It was getting dark so we left about 8:15 and drove around a bit looking for deer.  We saw 4 or 5.  When we got back to Harvey we watched some college football.  John went to bed about 10:00 and I worked on my blog.  I want to keep up so Bonnie doesn't scold me :).  I should be done by 11:15.  John wants to get up and walk tomorrow morning and then leave for the beach by 9:00.  (He checked the tide chart and that's when the ocean is at low tide).  He's getting as hooked as I am...I trained him well! :)
