Another Non-Beach Day on Jekyll

When I woke up at 7:15 John was already out walking.  It was very cloudy and a bit cool.  I got a shower and John returned about 8:00.  We had some cereal for breakfast and talked about what we wanted to do today.  We decided to drive to a local Walmart for some supplies, have lunch at Sonny's Barbecue and then just hang out at the CG.  Carol, a fellow camper across from us, who just happens to have a pug named, Sadie, had mentioned to us yesterday that she needs a rug for outside her RV.  So I knocked on her door and asked if she wanted us to get one for her at Walmart (that's where we got ours).  Yes, she did want one and was very appreciative of our offer.  So John showered and then off we went about 10:30.  We got what we needed and headed to Sonny's about 12 noon.  Our meals were delicious, as usual.  It was good to be back!!

We're back!!!

John has been waiting since March to enjoy his brisket again!

Does he look happy?!?!?

Sonny, Sonny, Sonny
We got back to the CG about 2:00.
This is the beautiful entrance to Jekyll Island

You have to cross over the Intercoastal Waterway on your way in.

Lots of boats waiting for launch!
While John was outside a guy stopped and was admiring Harvey.
What's not to admire about our Harvey, Jeep and our great E-11 site!  We are so blessed!!!
We invited him inside to take a peek and when we asked him where he was from, you won't believe it... he said, "Manheim, PA".  He and his wife live in Mt Gretna Springs just past the turnpike.  His son teaches at Manheim Central!  Small world, isn't it!!  I went to the office to ask if Wanda and Wally Lewis were here yet.  We had met them at the Indiana Escapees Rally and then again here last year.  They are in site G-30, so we walked down to see if they were there.  They were!!  We talked for a while, but they were busy preparing steamed crabs which they had caught yesterday.  Sherry and Roger were there also.  They invited us to go along to the Golden Isles CG on Wed just down the road for the chicken and shrimp buffet that we joined them for last year.  There's one on Friday, too, where they serve shrimp and catfish.  They also said they will do crabs again and we are invited to join them when they do.  They will also probably be going shrimping at the end of the week and they invited us to join them for that, too.  They are such neat people and so hospitable!!  When we got back to Harvey I called Jane to get the poppy seed salad dressing recipe that John and I like so much.  I knew the ingredients, but not the amounts.  So I made the dressing, boiled some eggs and put the sand dollars in some bleach to whiten them.  Then we took a walk in the CG and ran into Larry, the retired Air Force guy John had talked to a couple of days ago.  His wife, Claudia was there, too.  We chatted for quite a while and then Claudia invited us to go along to The Driftwood Bistro just down the road.  We swapped lots of stories and guess what... they met on Match.com, too, 4 yrs ago!!  We had so much in common and such a good time.  They were so nice!!  Unfortunately, they are leaving tomorrow.  We swapped information and hope to cross paths again this winter.  We closed the restaurant at 9:30.  It was raining again when we left.  We watched Monday Night Football while I worked on my blog and then went to bed at 11:30.  Hopefully we'll get to the beach tomorrow!!
